MOVING

So I've decided to officially move over to blogspot. The new blog link is up there, and it's got some new stuff in it, so please check it out. I dunno if I'm still going to be posting here, and if I do it's going to be very very rarely, so... I still need to put a lot more stuff up on my blog, but hopefully I'll see some of you guys there (:

Sorry for the long time no post guys. I wish I could say I got into an epic battle with a large elephant for world domination, but I can't. School's started again, and been pretty busy. Taking Printmaking, something not digital or entertainment related for a change, and I'm really enjoying it. Hopefully I can show you guys some prints, if they come out good! But I don't like posting on Livejournal, if only because I have to upload my image onto photobucket, then shrink it down and bla bla, which is why I've been so lazy to update.

I'm thinking about moving to blogspot. What do you think?

Sorry for not updating in a while! I've been really busy with school and then the holidays came along and all my friends and family came into town. I hope you all had a merry Christmas and a happy New Year!

But anyway, this is just something old for now. I've got new schoolwork to show you guys, and hopefully another process thing with one of them too! So hopefully I'll be getting my lazy butt to converting those psds to jpgs for you guys. Take care! (:

Well I promised process of this image, so here it is. I'm going to quickly explain it, so hope you enjoy it (:
I started off with a sketch. This one is probably the third pass or so, so a lot of the major perspective lines aren't visible. And the bicycle still needs a little fixing. It looks a little different from the final image, doesn't it?
Next comes black and white. I just used three shades of grey and white to work out my dark, middle and light tones and see how I want the lighting to be.
Here, I started adding some color. You can probably tell I'm working off the grey scale images, 'cause the shadows are still a little dark and that really bright wall next to the window is still unreasonably bright, as in why is it brighter than the window itself? The bike is finally fixed to fit an adult.
The foreground element wasn't really working, and that toolbox was drawing a lot of attention, so I cut it out and added a different workbench and brushes. The blue dragon kite, which is the focal point of my piece, isn't quite cool enough, so I amped it up (: The obnoxiously bright wall is also fixed, and there's a little stool there for the kite maker to sit on.
Just for the sake of this process tutorial, I'm posting the final image again so you can compare it to the steps above. It's cropped to focus in on the action and I adjusted the colors to make it more cohesive. A couple little scraps of paper are added for flavor, and the bike is flipped for compositional purposes.

Hopefully that was helpful in some way, or at the very least entertaining (:

Something I did for my visual development class. It's a Chinese kite maker's garage! With an epic dragon kite! I actually have some of the process saved for this, so I'll be posting that later (:

I dunno, I could have added a lot more to this but I'm so sick of painting this image haha.

I finally finished my children's book last week, and I'm really happy with it. The binding is so-so, because I wanted it to be perfect bound, and the glue didn't hold as well as I thought. I didn't have enough time to make all the images perfect either, but up there's the first page. I might put up more pages later if you guys want, but I'm too lazy right now and I'm about to go eat lunch d:

Made a new id for my deviantArt page. I think she looks a little too shiny, but now I'm too lazy to fix it ):

Next week I'll be done with my first children's book dummy, and I'll post a couple of images from that (:

School finally started for me Tuesday, so that means much less time to work on personal stuff, but hopefully I'll have some cool schoolwork to show you guys soon.

I did this around the same time I did the girl in the bear suit and I'm still quite fond of it even after a year or so (: I've been itching to try out Illustrator again, so I've been doing some sketches of landscapes in a style similar to this one, but I'm not too happy with any so far.

If you've been to my deviantART, then chances are you've already seen this, so sorry for the repost d:

I hadn't used Painter in a while, so I decided to do this quick drawing of a lantern girl. There is a lantern boy to this girl, and I might draw him some other time, since I'm rather happy with how this came out, considering the amount of time I spent.

If you're wondering, she's an aristocrat and only aristocrat lantern people are allowed to wear more than one lanterns on their head. And it is perfectly practical to hang lanterns from one's hair.

Here's another piece I did for my style class (based off Tim Burton's style), but I wasn't completely satisfied with the finish of the image I turned in, so over the break I spent a couple hours fixing up. And those hours were a lot longer than I had anticipated, but I think it was worth the effort (:

I hope you click it for the bigger image, 'cause them be a lot of bricks I spent time detailing D:
